Search engine optimizers breathe a sigh of relief
In the world of search engine optimization (SEO), it is important to know how search engines like Google rank websites. There are many factors that go into ranking a website, one of which is the inbound links on a website. Some SEO experts are concerned that links to porn sites could have a negative impact on a website’s ranking. To address these concerns, a Google representative addressed the issue in a recent episode of the Q&A YouTube series “Google SEO Office Hour.”
Google does not condemn porn links per se
A Google representative answered a user’s question about whether spam links from porn sites are bad for a site’s ranking in a recent episode of the Q&A YouTube series “Google SEO Office Hour.” The Google representative, Lizzi Sassman, explained that this is not something that needs to be given much priority, as Google systems are better able to detect if a link is spammy. But for those who are concerned, the Disavow tool in Google Search Console can be used. This tool allows the user to create and upload a list of spammy links to ensure that they do not have a negative impact on the ranking.
Sassman’s response also confirmed information provided by Google’s John Mueller in 2016, when he confirmed that for Google, “adult websites are not automatically spam and links from them are not automatically unnatural/problematic.” However, it is important to note that Google systems also take into account the intent of the link when it comes to imposing penalties.
Mueller added that it is important to verify that the website itself is responsible for the spammy links. It’s common for websites to have random, weird links, and Google has a lot of practice ignoring them. However, if problematic spam links have been actively built up, it makes sense to clean them up.

The Disavow tool can help if the links cannot be removed directly. However, this will not automatically return the site to its previous position, but it will help Google to trust it again and give it a chance to work its way back up.
It is important to note that there is no simple, magic trick that will make a website reappear automatically. It takes hard work and dedication to improve a website’s ranking, just like a website built from the ground up.
