Inside Eronite – The job in the executive office

I am an adult webmaster and as chief and final editor responsible for the visual and content appearance of eronite.com and its two sister sites eronite.uk (English) and eronite.es (Spanish).

What does my typical workday look like?

Let’s take Monday as an example, because this is usually when the most “happens” and goes on. I hit the office between 9:15 and 9:30, depending on the traffic on the roads. I drive about 15 to 20 minutes to work. After arriving, there is a quick “hello” to the group and I go to my office. This is how it looks, by the way:

I hang up my jacket, turn on the computer (I’ve been swearing by 27″ iMacs for about eleven years), go back to the kitchen, make myself a cup of tea or pour myself a glass of water.

In order not to bore you with numerous details, I will give you a short overview of my working day in tabular form – using a Monday as an example:

Of course, this is only a rough overview and on other days there are also things like the “classic back office” (i.e. preparatory accounting for the tax advisor, incoming and outgoing mail, control of incoming and outgoing invoices, etc.) or also the maintenance of the website, entering new updates or features, etc.

Most of the time, the day doesn’t follow an overly rigid schedule, as the table might lead you to believe. Sudden server problems, unforeseen events, meetings, preparations for or after trade fairs, meetings with business partners, etc. can sometimes throw the daily schedule into disarray. However, since we have been able to extend our lead time to about two to four weeks with a good editorial calendar, we have this under control quite well.

In any case, a typical workday never gets one thing: boring. Never. And sometimes when my mother calls me at the end of a workday to ask if I’ve finished my work, she always gets the same answer, “I never finish.” And I mean that, there’s always something to do. And because it’s fun, I’m happy every Monday when I get to go to the office after a relaxing weekend. Even though I can see the sea from the window about 200 meters away (and we also have a shower in the office), I don’t find time for a swim on weekdays during working hours. But that’s what the weekends are for!
