Whether it’svirtual animation in film, education or the construction industry, many areas of life are embracing the possibilities of immersion, or being immersed in a virtual world.
Real life avatars of real pornstars
The erotic industry also makes use of this technological effect. Where passive consumption of VR porn was the trend for a long time, a team of developers from Berlin is shaping new possibilities for adult entertainment with the so-called vrXcity. “In our virtual erotic world, users interact with lifelike, fully animated and naturally moving avatars of real erotic stars.
Interested parties experience individual adventures on a new level and almost all sexual desires are fulfilled,” explains Tobias Platte, Managing Director of me.mento 3D interactive GmbH in Berlin.
Virtual animations better than reality?
With vrXcity, an animated adult playground is created, which is specifically able to respond to the user’s wishes through technical finesse. “By uniquely combining a 3D scan of real erotic stars, created as a lifelike 3D figure, with natural movements of a real porn actress, both the erotic and tech industries are taken to a new level,” the expert points out.
To make the virtual characters as lifelike as possible, the Berlin experts use a 3D full-body scanner that captures every inch of the actors’ bodies with the help of 170 cameras. Subsequently, a so-called photogrammetry software assembles the obtained data set into a three-dimensional figure.
In the 3D modeling department, graphic artists depict the smallest imperfections such as scars, laugh lines, and even birthmarks on the skin, just as they are found on the real erotic star: a perfect likeness from head to toe.
Erotic virtual animations
In a further step, the 3D figure reaches the so-called rigging department. Here, experts work on fluid and lifelike movements. To do this, the figure gets various anchor points and an individual skeleton, with which, for example, the arms can be bent at the elbow and the head can be placed in the neck.
“In addition to the movement of individual limbs, several digitized images of different facial expressions allow us to show the individual facial expressions of each avatar,” explains Tobias Platte. In order to achieve a coherent overall image of the avatar, the developers apply previously recorded motion capture data to the 3D skeleton and combine individual facial features with lifelike motion animations.
“In addition to common programs such as RealityCapture, Houdini, Mari and Photoshop, we also use tools we developed ourselves to some extent for the unique character generation,” concludes the expert. After several test runs, the vrXcity avatar is available to its users for many erotic adventures.
