When people talk about erogenous zones, they often overlook a small, hidden part of the male body that can trigger incredibly intense orgasms: the prostate. The topic of anal sex or anal stimulation is still often little discussed among many men today. They often see themselves only in the role of giver and feel insecure or ashamed to try anal stimulation themselves.

Taboo anal stimulation

Erogenous zone prostate: breaking taboo anal stimulation in menDeep-rooted stereotypes lead many to believe that only gay men have anal sex or stimulate their prostates. The lack of education in schools about the different erogenous zones and the lack of conversations between men lead to many misunderstandings. It’s no surprise, then, that nearly 40 percent (39 percent) of men have never had anal intercourse, according to a recent study conducted by We-Vibe1 , and wouldn’t want to try it. When asked why, half of the men (47 percent) worldwide replied that they were simply not interested.

This raises the question of why men are not interested in stimulating one of their most erogenous zones. Four out of five men have actually never heard that the prostate is an erogenous zone that should not be ignored. Only one in six men is aware of this and stimulates them regularly.

Give and take

The study found that 35 percent of men have tried anal sex and like it. However, looking more closely at the percentage of men who answered “yes,” 67 percent said they only give anal sex but do not receive it. The reason for this is, among other things, the belief that only homosexual men have anal sex. In addition, 25 percent of all men reported that they generally perceive anal sex as dirty.

“Prostate stimulation is often a taboo subject in heterosexual relationships. So we have to clear up some prejudices. No, anal sex or prostate stimulation do not make you gay, and even if they did. Actually, you shouldn’t have to write that at all in 2022. And yes, excrement comes out the back, but usually not in the last part of the rectum. Nevertheless, especially in the beginning, it does not hurt at all to clean it, for example, with an anal shower. Nothing can break, but of course you should approach it carefully and increase slowly,” says Volker Wittkamp, urologist and sexual wellness expert at We-Vibe.

Intense orgasms through stimulation of the prostate gland

This small, hidden part of the male body is accessible through the anus and, when properly massaged, can provide unparalleled pleasure that a man can experience alone or with a partner. The prostate is a gland about the size of a chestnut, made up of muscle tissue and located below the bladder near the erectile tissue of the urethra.

“You can’t and shouldn’t force anyone to do it, but if you follow a few rules, prostate stimulation is at least an intense experience. Mostly in a positive sense,” adds Volker Wittkamp.

As with the penis and perineum, there are thousands of nerve endings in the prostate gland that can produce a very pleasurable sensation when stimulated: The orgasm can last longer, be more intense and can be felt throughout the body.

Curiosity overcomes clichés

Although men are still hesitant about anal sex, they are curious about how prostate stimulation feels. For example, the study found that 45 percent of men already use sex toys regularly and more than 20 percent of men are interested in trying anal sex toys. In Germany, almost a quarter of men are curious and would like to try plugs or a prostate stimulator.
