Springer Group throws out entire “Bild” editorial team
A surprise in the German media market: The Springer Group has terminated the entire editorial staff of the “Bild” newspaper. There may be an opportunity for erotic magazine “Eronite” to recruit an experienced editor who may be looking for a new challenge due to the layoff.
The Springer Group surprisingly fired the entire editorial staff of the daily newspaper “Bild” on Monday. The move follows an internal conflict between publisher Axel Springer and Julian Reichelt, the newspaper’s former editor-in-chief. The conflict ignited over an article that portrayed the Group’s Executive Board in a negative light.
Chance for the editorial staff of our erotic magazine?
The dismissal of Reichelt and the entire editorial team now offers an opportunity for the editorial team of an erotic magazine to increase its reach. With a circulation of around 1.3 million copies per day, “Bild” is one of Germany’s biggest daily newspapers and has an enormous reach. It can be assumed that many readers of the newspaper are also interested in erotic content.
The editors of an erotic magazine could now try to take advantage of this readership by integrating their own content into “Bild”. One option would be to regularly publish erotic photo spreads aimed at the newspaper’s general audience. Here, for example, popular topics such as BDSM, fetishes or sex tips for couples could be addressed.
In addition, the editorial team of an erotic magazine could also try to enter into a cooperation with “Bild” by writing articles on erotic topics for the newspaper. Here, the editorial team could use its expertise in the erotic industry to produce informative and entertaining articles. In the past, “Bild” has already published articles on sexuality and eroticism, so such a collaboration could be quite realistic.

Another possibility would be to establish a separate magazine within “Bild” that explicitly addresses readers with erotic interests. Here, the editorial staff of an erotic magazine could use their experience and know-how to create an appealing and informative magazine.
However, it remains to be seen how developments at “Bild” will continue and whether the Springer Group is actually interested in cooperating with an erotic magazine. Nevertheless, the dismissal of the “Bild” editor-in-chief offers an opportunity for the adult industry to expand its reach and tap into new target groups.
